Obituary for Sherry Ann Larsen

“If a person loves, they are going to be hurt, it’s a fact of life. The more the heart loves, the more it breaks; the more that it breaks, the more love is generated.” — Sherry Larsen, on foster parenting, March 31, 1997.

Sherry Ann Larsen passed on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at her home in Lewiston.

Sherry was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Marcus and Pauline Quinn. She met her beloved husband, Dorian Andrew Larsen, and the two were married Oct. 20, 1953.

After graduating from the Clarkston School of Nursing, she worked as a nurse at both St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and Tri-State Memorial Hospital. Sherry was an avid caretaker and was known for fostering medically fragile children.

Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she nurtured. In their lifetime, Sherry and Dorian fostered or adopted over 100 children. She was actively involved in the care of not only her children, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. The front door to her home was called a “revolving door” because you could find many friends and family coming through.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorian; her parents; her three siblings; and children Pauline Larsen, Paula Wood, Mona Larsen, Echo Larsen and Shereece Larsen.

Sherry is survived by her children and their spouses Dorian and Pat Larsen; DeLacy Larsen and Ben Sumaoang; Eric Larsen; Rebecca and Doug Havens; Joshua and Amity Larsen; David Larsen; Dominick Larsen; and Madyson Larsen.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses Shereece and Aaron Morris; Paul and Rachell Larsen; Je’Neen and Kacy Field; Vincent Sumaoang; Nakia Sumaoang; Ian and Kristin Larsen; Deanna and Ty Bardwell; Nicole and Kevin Kessler; Douglas Havens; Miranda Meier; Kristene Wood; Seth Larsen; Maya Larsen; Dorian Larsen; and Dante McElfresh.

As well as great-grandchildren Alexis and Michael Luper, Kyle and Akané Shriver, Reece Erickson, Clay Larsen, Sean Larsen, Gabby and Alrich Bocko, Justin Meier, Malachi Lawson, Mason Baker, Kallee Field, Kinsley Field, Alyssa Corona, Chase Larsen, Caden Larsen, Connor Larsen, Emerson Bardwell, Eli Bardwell, Annika Kessler, Adelynn Kessler and Christian Kessler.

She is survived by a great-great-grandson, Micah Corona-Villarreal; two siblings; and too many foster children to count.
