Obituary for Virginia Rose Demean

Virginia Rose Demean, 62, of Lewiston, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation – The Orchards. Merchant Funeral Home of Clarkston is in charge of arrangements.



Virginia “Jennie” Rose Demean, 62, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022. She was born Dec. 4, 1959, in Lewiston, to Arya Lawyer and Donald Demean.

Jennie grew up in Clarkston and graduated in 1978 from Clarkston High School. She first worked as a candy striper and was then employed at the Veterans Hospital in Walla Walla, and later worked at Head Start for 15 years. She also enjoyed going to the dances and she loved the ’70s music.

She had her son, Colby, in 1989 and he was a support for her, for the rest of her life, and they remained close.

Jennie enjoyed walking, reading, huckleberry picking, sightseeing and baking for relatives. She loved visiting with family members in Weippe.

She enjoyed living in Arizona when her grandson was born and she especially enjoyed Tombstone, Bisbee and Silver City, N.M.

Jennie is survived by her son, Colby Lawyer, grandson Kyha Lawyer, and siblings Wendell Demean, Bryan Demean, Lori Lawyer and Leslie Lawyer. She is also survived by her niece Annie Faulkner and her daughters Joslyn and Kaelie.

The family would like to thank Prestige Care and the Nez Perce Tribe.
